Talk about rare and highly sought after! We are really excited to have available for sale this exquisite Guild Custom Shop Slash Crossroads Doubleneck in a lustrous Cherry Sunburst finish.

Many avid collectors and guitarists search for years to find one of these much-coveted Slash-designed instruments. This magnificent example will not hang around long so do not miss out!

Not only is it an exceptionally rare and elusive guitar, produced by the Custom Shop for only a handful of years, but this particular one is in excellent condition and is spec'd with a beautiful AAA Maple Top which was an additional option at the time. The Cherry Sunburst finish is also a rarity making this guitar an all-round collector's dream!

This Crossroads Doubleneck has come from a collector well-known to us at Smokestack Guitars. It is in 100% original condition throughout including all the hardware and components. The electrical components and the wiring loom are completely stock with zero resoldering - everything is as how it left the Guild Custom Shop in '99!

This unique guitar was designed by Slash on the back of a cocktail napkin in a Hollywood diner. He must have gone easy on the cocktails because he came up with the what we think must be the most innovative, practical and functional double-neck designs in existence!

Due to the special body construction, it is surprisingly comfortable and manageable to play (as far as double-necks go!). The 6-string's solid-body morphs into a chambered acoustic construction for the 12-string portion whilst keeping the same slim profile of the solid-body throughout.

Unlike a traditional acoustic construction this body has been milled away from solid (much in the same vein as a PRS Hollowbody I or II). This creates a guitar that is highly dimensionally stable combined with a resonant and rich acoustic voice.

Let's get down to the details with the main event - the necks! Both feature a very characterful piece of rosewood for their fretboards, a 24.75" scale length, 12" radius and 22x .05" H x .105" W fret wire - but that's where the similarities end. The 12-string is a laminated construction mahogany-maple-mahogany "D" profile neck with an unbound fretboard and dot inlays; the 6-string is a solid mahogany "C" profile neck with a bound fretboard and some visually stunning V-Block inlays.

The rosewood bridge on the 12-string is fitted with a Fishman Transducer which is hooked up to a Fishman AGP2 Rev2 Preamp. The volume for this is controlled via a slider on the top side of the guitar - please note there is a very small crack in the plastic around one of the screws here. The Treble/Bass control is hidden directly on the preamp's board which can be accessed via the small rectangular backplate, this is also where the preamp's 9V battery is located. 

The 6-string part of the body is loaded with two iconic Seymour Duncan Alnico II APH-1 pickups that are synonymous with Slash's cutting tone. They are both in nice cosmetic condition with some limited light playwear from use. Both pickups have their white model number labels present on their underneath.

A Gotoh Tune-O-Matic bridge and stoptail also feature on the 6-string, the plating here is in excellent condition for an instrument from 1999! They show limited signs of any patina or tarnishing.

Switching and controls are very straightforward with a 2-way mini-toggle determining whether you get the 6 or 12-string juice out of the single output jack. The 6-string has a simple 3-way pickup selector on the upper body with 2x Master Volumes & 2x Master Tones.

The original TKL case is included, the green lining inside is in the nicest condition you'll ever find for one of these cases. It only has a tiny section of green that has faded - most have faded severely with age. Externally the case is in good condition, but it does have some scuffs from storage and transport.

Condition Report: Overall this guitar is in excellent condition and it's the nicest Crossroads Doubleneck that we've seen available for sale anywhere in recent years! 

It has come from a collection and has only had light usage, we suspect it's been kept it its case throughout most of its life. As it has nitrocellulose lacquer it has taken on some light wear commensurate with the age and play of an instrument from 1999, so please do expect some playwear, ageing and light signs of use.

The body's top is in excellent condition. It does have a couple of tiny pinhead-size impressions, these are hard to notice unless looking up close and in direct light however we have highlighted one in the final photo so you can see what to expect. They are only shallow and haven't cracked the nitro. Apart from that, the top has just some light playwear in the lacquer, nothing egregious!

The frets on both necks show minimal usage and have a lot of life left in them. On the underneath-side of the 6-string neck there is a small crack in the binding's plastic and a very small section where the lacquer has come off slightly with age, there is a similar area like this near the first fret's side dot. We have shown these areas in the final photo in the gallery. This could be touched in by a luthier if you wished, but we think it's just part of the natural ageing process and is better off left as is.

As is common with this model, where both necks join the body there is a hairline fracture in the lacquer - this is purely cosmetic and it's not too obvious to notice.

On the rest of the guitar there are some light signs of playwear throughout and minor wear but no obvious dings or dents.

After our usual thorough inspection, we have listed above all known "niggles" - to sum up though, if you could find another in future, we sincerely doubt it will be in as nice condition as this one!
