Fresh in stock at Smokestack is this excellent condition James Tyler Japan 2023 Studio Elite HD in a lustrous Cherry Sunburst finish. If you're after a Studio Elite HD that's a bit unique, you're not going to want to miss this spalted maple masterpiece!
As you are probably aware, Tyler's Japanese line of instruments are extremely close to the USA models (both in specification and finishing). As such, you can expect top-tier build quality throughout. From its solid Honduran mahogany body, matching Honduran mahogany Neck (Standard '59 profile), to its ebony fretboard, the finest tonewoods have been selected here. Combining this tonewood selection with a Gotoh Two-Post Tremolo (w/James Tyler-branded saddles) and Hipshot Locking Tuners only adds to this Tyler's rock-solid tuning stability.
Possibly due in part to its ebony fretboard and spalted maple top, this is the most percussive-sounding Studio Elite that we have tried to date. It has a very snappy response and will definitely bring a smile to your face!
This Studio Elite HD is loaded with a pair of JTS5500 pickups in the neck and middle positions. The JTS5500 is a single-coil that uses Alnico 5 magnets to produce a powerful, distinct, chimey sound. The middle pickup is reverse-wound and reverse-polarity for hum-cancelling in positions 2 and 4.
On the bridge, we have a high-output Shark humbucker, featuring Alnico 5 magnets. Tyler describe it best as "Good tight low end. Good bark in the mids but still even sounding. Sweet singing highs with a lower peak. Fat single notes with a nice taste of compression. Big articulate overdrive".
Other switching options include a 5-way pickup selector and an Active Midboost Preamp with Bypass and variable control knob. Made in collaboration with Demeter, this sought-after midboost acts as a low-impedance buffer when engaged, even when the midboost knob is rolled all the way down.
This Tyler has come from one of the UK's finest collections. It is presented in excellent condition throughout, having had only limited prior play. There are two small pinhead-sized shallow impressions on the top; please see them circled in the final pictures in the gallery. These are only shallow and have to be caught in the light to be noticeable - they have not cracked the lacquer surface. Elsewhere, expect only very minimal patina from light play. The frets are in excellent condition and show no visible signs of wear. In short, this is a nice clean example!
The weight of this guitar is 3.47kg (7.65lbs).
The original Tyler/SKB hardshell case is included. It is in overall excellent condition, but it does have a few external surface marks from storage. Please see the photos for all the included case candy.
This Tyler has comes from one of the UK's finest collections; as such, the case has been numbered "359" in marker pen on the front spine between the two left-most latches.
