Here is a rare chance to purchase an immaculate condition James Tyler USA 2025 Mongoose Special in Ice Tea Burst from within the UK. This guitar cost £8000 with fees to get here, so this is an opportunity to grab this elusive model without importing or the lead-time and costs associated with ordering one from new.
As always with Tyler, build quality is second to none. From its Quilt Maple Top, to its Mahogany body and neck, and its Indian Rosewood Fretboard, the finest tonewoods have been selected here.
A Tune-A-Matic bridge and Hipshot Locking Tuners help add to this Tyler's rock-solid tuning stability. Interestingly, the scale length is 25.5"; you'd be forgiven for expecting 24.75" with this kind of setup. Our view on this Mongoose Special is you've got a really interesting mix of Les Paul and Tele vibes blended into one and then perfectly seasoned with Tyler's San Fernando secret sauce - this is one moreish Mongoose!
Loaded with a Retro pickup in the neck. This low-output PAF-like humbucker uses Alnico 5 magnets to produce a warm, clean sound with top end that's not too bright. It has nice overdrive with good articulation.
On the bridge, the original Super has been swapped out (but is still included in the case) with a Tyler Angry Retro pickup. You never normally want to make a mongoose angry, but in this case it's worth risking the consequences! This medium-output humbucker is the perfect complement to the Retro in the neck. Alnico 5 magnets again and more powerful than a Hot Retro - there is now plenty of bite and mid-range growl from this feisty mongoose!
Electronics/switching options are kept nice and straightforward with a familiar 3-position toggle and a 2 Volume, 2 Tone layout.
This Tyler has come from one of the UK's finest collections. It is presented in immaculate condition throughout with virtually no/extremely limited signs of any prior play. There is some minor patina (such as on the neck plate) from handling, but playwear is practically non-existent. There are no chips, dings or scratches, and the plastic film is still present on the backplates. In short, this is an exceptionally clean example.
The weight of this guitar is 3.14kg (6.92lbs).
The original Tyler Signature hardshell case is included. It is in overall excellent condition, with just a few light marks from storage. Please see the photos for all the included case candy.
This Tyler comes from one of the UK's very finest collections; as such, the case has been numbered "393" in marker pen on the front spine between the two left-most latches.
