Overview
We bring you something extremely special from the rarefied heights of the PRS Custom Shop - this exquisite Custom Shop Artist Series III showcases the very pinnacle of craftsmanship, innovation and materials that Paul Reed Smith has to offer, culminating in a true heirloom quality instrument.
PRS now consider their Custom Shop guitars as Private Stock, so here is a chance to own a stunning piece of PRS history as well as a Private Stock-level instrument! We believe this is the nicest condition Artist III currently available on the market in the UK, it will not disappoint!
As you'd expect, the specification on this guitar is outstanding with the timber selection being second to none. Finished in a luxurious Violin Amber Sunburst, the lustrous honey hues meld into a rich amber, perfectly highlighting the densely figured Big Leaf Maple Top. This top has been paired with a stunning one-piece South American Mahogany back for an iconic tonewood combination.
An exceptional piece of East Indian Rosewood has been selected for the fretboard. This has been framed in a vibrant Paua purfling and is further adorned with Paua birds. To complete this dynamic look, the Paua purfling extends upwards tracing around the matching East Indian Rosewood Truss Rod Cover and rosewood-veneer headstock.
The neck itself is crafted from a beautiful piece of South American Mahogany. It is carved with a Wide-Fat profile, the predecessor of today's popular Pattern profile.
Other unique appointments include gold Locking Tuners and a gold PRS Wraparound Stoptail Bridge. The Series III is loaded with a pair of Artist humbuckers controlled via the Rotary Switch, as well as the Master Volume and Master Tone knobs.
As the photographs bear witness, this guitar is in truly immaculate condition and has seen only sparse play since new. The frets show hardly any sign of wear and the lacquer is in stunning condition with virtually no signs of playwear. The gold plating on the hardware is in amazing condition - it is from 1997 so there is some unavoidable (and very minor) patina but the plating still looks exceptionally fresh for its age.
The case candy includes the Certificate of Authenticity, Warranty Information Card plus a message from PRS to the previous owner about the instrument.
The guitar comes with a high quality full leather case (superb leather on this!). It is in excellent condition for its age with just a few signs of wear.
The weight of this guitar is nice and comfortable at 3.56kg/7.85lbs.
Extra pictures and shipping information is below - this Artist Series III is feature packed, naturally if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.
