Overview

We bring you something extremely special from the rarefied heights of PRS' Private Stock - this exquisite 513 Whitewash showcases the very pinnacle of craftsmanship, innovation, and materials that Paul Reed Smith has to offer, culminating in a true heirloom-quality instrument.

This is a very rare chance to get your hands on the ultimate incarnation of Paul Reed Smith's much-celebrated 513 model. With an outstanding Whitewash finish, Swamp Ash back, Tremolo Cavity Plate delete, contrasting ebony fretboard and black hardware - this is by far the most suave-looking 513 that we've ever seen, the Private Stock team really pulled out all the stops on this one!

As you'd expect, the specification on this guitar is amazing, with the timber selection being second to none. Its stunning flame maple top was hand-selected by Headline Music (former UK PRS dealer that later became PRS Guitars Europe). It's a beautiful addition to the particularly characterful piece of Swamp Ash selected for the body's back.

For the neck, we have a comfortable Wide Thin profile crafted from a remarkable piece of highly flamed maple - this is a showstopper in its own right! A much more traditional mother-of-pearl "J-Bird" inlay has been spec'd instead of the standard 513 Birds. They look spectacular and really pop against the dark ebony on the fingerboard and headstock!

This 2010 Private Stock is in mint condition; as the photographs bear witness, it is immaculate throughout, showing only limited signs of very careful usage. There are no chips, dents, dings or scratches anywhere and the frets are in superb condition with virtually no signs of wear.

The guitar is from 2010, so please do expect some unavoidable light tarnishing/patina in the metal hardware and some extremely minor signs of playwear in the lacquer. The only mark to note is not on the guitar itself but on the plastic cavity plate on the back; this is a tiny (3-4mm) light surface abrasion. This is highly unlikely to bother you, but if it did, affordable replacements are readily available from PRS. In short, we don't think it would be easy to find another 513, Private Stock or otherwise, in as nice a condition as this one!

If you're not familiar with the differences between the 513 and its successor, the 509, many PRS aficionados prefer the 513’s versatility. The 513 (5 pickups offering 13 tones) offers Single Coil, Clear Humbucking (for lower-output/vintage tones) and Heavy Humbucking modes - the 509 does not have this latter mode.

Overall, the 513 is one of the most versatile instruments that PRS have ever produced. This beauty is most likely to become your main "Swiss Army Knife" guitar once in your arsenal!

At the weigh-in, this PRS is 3.80kg (8.38lbs).

The original Private Stock leather case is included. Please note that it has some external wear/marks and patina from storage over the years.

This 513 has come from one of the UK's very finest collections - as such, the case has been numbered and the model's name has been written in marker pen on the case's front spine (please see case pic).
