Overview
We bring you something extremely special from the rarefied heights of PRS' Private Stock - this exquisite DGT in Frostbite Fade showcases the very pinnacle of craftsmanship, innovation and materials that Paul Reed Smith has to offer, culminating in a true heirloom-quality instrument.
If you are after a very special Private Stock and a unique piece of PRS history, then you need look no further! Not only is it one of the most aesthetically striking PRSs that we've ever witnessed, but this breathtaking DGT is a chance to own a Private Stock with the first-ever quilted maple fretboard stained to match the guitar's top! Now a highly desired feature, this is the one that started it all.
The monochrome aesthetics throughout look sensational, from the Frostbite Fade stain on the heavily quilted maple, the ebony binding on the fretboard and headstock to its Swamp Ash back with its wild contrasting black and white dog hair finish - the Private Stock team have gone "Way Down Deep" into "The Belly of The Beast" to realise this most incredible incarnation of David Grissom's perpetually sought-after signature model.
At Smokestack Guitars, it's no secret that the DGT is one of our favourites in the PRS line-up (in fact, a DGT in Yellow Tiger was the very first guitar we sold!). But it's not just us, Music Radar states that this model is "arguably the best PRS ever" - well, this guitar is the best DGT we've played ever. It cannot be emphasised enough just how nice it is playability-wise! Some truly transcendent sustain and resonance are the name of the game here, even unplugged notes just "Keep a Rollin' On"!
As the photographs attest, this guitar has been lovingly cared for. It is in mint condition throughout, having had only extremely light use since purchase. There are absolutely no chips, dings or scratches anywhere on the guitar. As it's from 2016, expect some very light patina and playwear, but after thorough inspection, there are no specific marks anywhere on the guitar to note. The frets are in excellent condition with only minor signs of usage - this guitar is practically a case queen!
It should be noted that this is a particularly lightweight DGT, weighing in at a comfortable 3.37kg (7.43lbs).
The case candy includes the Private Stock Certificate of Authenticity, PRS sticker, Operating Instructions manual, case key, allen keys, truss rod wrench, etc.
The original Private Stock leather hardshell case is included, with the MODCAT sticker still present on the side. Please note that the case has some light external wear from storage.
This DGT has come from one of the UK's very finest collections; as such, the case has been numbered "75" in marker pen on the front spine, between the two left-most latches (please see case pic).
