Overview

PRS aficionados, brace yourselves, it doesn't get much rarer or more collectable than this! This outstanding Private Stock is your chance to own one of the very first McCarty 594s!

Right off the bat of John Mayer's impromptu unveiling of the McCarty 594 (during a Periscope livestream on 1st February 2016), PRS released the first batch as part of its highly popular Private Stock "Guitar Of The Month" series. To commemorate Private Stock's 20th Anniversary, a new experimental guitar design was unveiled each month. It's fair to say that the design for this special February run was the most substantial for PRS, as it went on to make waves far beyond this coveted series.

The 594 was conceived during this exclusive release as an homage to Golden Era vintage instruments, whilst being forged with PRS' unparalleled modern reliability. Due to an overwhelmingly positive public response, critical acclaim, and John Mayer's effusive praise, PRS later released a Core model, which instantly became a flagship and an incredibly popular mainstay of their USA lineup.

This guitar is 1 of only 26 from this extremely collectable Private Stock "February" series. We are really excited to offer this opportunity to own one of the first of such a highly regarded PRS model. This heirloom-quality instrument is a remarkable Private Stock guitar in its own right and a piece of exceptional historical significance within the PRS world.

Numbered "1/26" on the back of the headstock and stated on the certificate, it will be certain to take pole position in the lucky new owner's guitar arsenal! This will not hang around for long, so act now to avoid disappointment! (Please note: all "February" guitars from the initial release were numbered "1/26" on the back of the headstock.)

In total, only 5 of the 26 were allocated to the UK, so it's a true rarity to have one of these instruments available for sale here. We are delighted to offer this to the market and confirm that it is in mint condition throughout. Finished in a classy Vintage McCarty Smoked Burst and High Gloss Nitrocellulose, this beauty is beyond lustrous!

There are so many special and uncommon design features here that catch our eye; in particular, we love the Bronze Aluminium PRS Two-Piece Bridge and the stunning Madagascar Rosewood Fretboard with Curly Maple Binding.

The beautifully Figured Mahogany neck is another standout feature, what an absolute treat to witness! But it's not just aesthetics, it feels amazing to play. The asymmetrical Pattern Vintage profile makes extended playing sessions a breeze!

The thicker-than-standard (for added sustain) double-cut body design features an especially characterful Curly Maple top. This has been married to a one-piece Lightweight African Ribbon Mahogany back for the iconic tonewood combination. This body is loaded with a pair of 58/15 LT (Low-Turn) humbuckers, delivering a warm yet articulate vintage-inspired output. The electronics, spec'd with traditional wiring, offer further versatility on the 58/15s, with taps operated via the two push/pull tone controls.

As the photographs attest, this guitar has been exceptionally well cared for by its owner. It has had only extremely light use since new, and we are pleased to report that it is in completely mint condition throughout. Upon thorough inspection, we can confirm that there are absolutely no chips, dings or scratches anywhere on the guitar.

As it's from 2016, do expect some extremely light patina and playwear. But as previously mentioned, there are no specific marks to note. The frets are in mint condition with hardly any signs of wear - this 594 has practically been a case queen!

At the weigh-in, it is a lightweight 3.45kg (7.61lbs).

The case candy includes the Private Stock Certificate of Authenticity, PTC card, PRS sticker, Operating Instructions manual, case key, Allen keys and truss rod wrench.

The original Private Stock 20th Anniversary British Fawn Tolex case is included, with the MODCAT sticker still present on the side. Please note that the case has some light external wear from storage.

This guitar has come from one of the UK's very finest collections; as such, the case has been numbered "62" in marker pen on the front spine, between the two left-most latches. Returns: Returns are allowed within 14 days of purchase. Goods must be returned to us in the exact same condition that they were sent in and you must contact us beforehand to authorise a return - no exceptions. The buyer is responsible for the item being safely returned and the return postage costs. The buyer must insure the item to its full value to avoid loss.
