Overview
Suhr never cease to amaze us here at Smokestack Guitars and this 2023 Modern Plus in an ethereal Trans Blue Denim Slate is no exception!
It must be emphasised that the Flame Top on this particular Modern Plus is absolutely spectacular, it's one of the nicest we've seen! The heavily rippled figuring and the way it's been exquisitely bookmatched reminds us of a bow wave, just beautiful!
Another key feature of this particular Modern Plus is that it's spec'd with a Gotoh Floyd (as seen on Suhr's flagship Carve Top Knopfler Spec, albeit in gold). They are widely regarded as one of the best tremolos out there, in our humble opinion they are a step above the original Floyd in terms of manufacturing quality, ergonomics and aesthetics. You can dive this beauty to your heart's content and not give tuning stability a second thought.
Suhr's superb fretwork is on full display here; the 22 Stainless Steel Jumbo Frets (on a 10-14" compound radius) are extremely smooth to play, they just siphon the notes right out of your fingertips! Add to this the Satin Finish Maple neck combined with a Modern Elliptical profile and it results in one really fast playing guitar!
This Modern Plus is loaded with two pickups from Suhr's most popular humbucker range, the SS (Single Screw) series. With an SSV on the neck you have a highly dynamic pickup with mimimal compression. It emanates a vintage warmth combined with good clarity and articulation. The SSH Plus on the bridge is a high output humbucker with plenty of punch. It has lots of midrange (without the honk) and a focused low-end.
Completed in the Suhr workshop only in late August of 2023, this guitar has only had minimal use from its one owner. Overall we'd say it's in very good condition. The neck on this guitar is in mint condition, including the Stainless Steel frets which show no signs of wear at all. The Flame Maple top is also in excellent condition. The top side of the guitar (side where the tummy cut is) is in excellent condition too.
There are a few impressions and marks on the bottom edge/side of the guitar near the jack plate. Please note there is an area of shallow worming on the back of the guitar towards the top of the tremolo cavity plate, the top of the plastic cavity plate has a few light surface marks on it. Please see the final two pictures in the gallery as we have highlighted these areas.
All case candy is present including the fretboard protector, truss rod wrench, allen keys, Suhr Spec Sheet etc. The original Suhr Gig Bag is included and is in excellent condition.

Returns: Returns are allowed within 14 days of purchase. Goods must be returned to us in the exact same condition that they were sent in and you must contact us beforehand to authorise a return - no exceptions. The buyer is responsible for the item being safely returned and the return postage costs. The buyer must insure the item to its full value to avoid loss.
