We bring you something very special from the rarefied heights of Gibson Custom Shop's Murphy Lab...this absolutely stunning 1968 Les Paul Custom Reissue showcases the pinnacle of Gibson in all its Ebony (Ultra Light Aged) glory!
The Custom Shop and Murphy Lab have crafted a miraculous reissue that brings to life every essence of the original '68 Les Paul Custom. From the period-accurate ultra-thin nitrocellulose finish, black M69 pickup rings, 14-degree headstock angle, long tenon neck joint, right down to the hide glue adhesives, the smallest of minutiae have been poured over to create a reissue with exacting and unparalleled authenticity.
Purchased brand new in August 2025 (from an authorised Gibson Custom Shop dealer), this guitar is presented in immaculate condition, and comes to us from a very dear customer who takes exceptional care over their instruments. Over the brief period they have owned it, it has been cherished and shows only the faintest signs of usage (over the ULA Murphy Lab aging) - very light playwear on the scratchplate and minimal evidence of wear on the medium-jumbo frets.
Due to the dark Ebony finish, the photography hasn't done full justice to the Ultra Light Aged relicing present. As you'll no doubt already be aware, the Murphy Lab Ultra Light Aged finish and lightly aged hardware simulates decades of light playwear - all done extremely tastefully. Expect some superb lacquer checking and light patina throughout.
Being a '68 reissue, it features a one-piece mahogany body married to a two-piece plain maple top, unlike the all-mahogany construction of the 1950s Customs. The solid mahogany neck has a comfortable Medium C profile, offering support without being cumbersome in the slightest. A beautiful piece of dark ebony has been selected for the fingerboard, contrasting and acting as a canvas for the striking Block Mother of Pearl inlays.
This particular '68 Custom Reissue is a really sweet example; it's a whole lot of fun to play and it absolutely sings, even when unplugged - the lucky new owner is going to love it!
To help accurately replicate that biting tone of a '68 Custom, the guitar is loaded with a pair of '68 Custom Humbucker pickups. They provide plenty of attack, upper-midrange punch and outstanding clarity to boot!
Case candy includes the Certificate of Authenticity, hang tags, dealer tags, pre-pack checklist, etc. This all comes in a high-quality Black Lifton Historic Hardshell Case w/Goldenrod interior - this is a work of craftsmanship of itself! It is in excellent condition, with just a faint amount of patina from storage.

Goods must be returned to us in the exact same condition that they were sent in and you must contact us beforehand to authorise a return - no exceptions.
